As we step into the new year, many of us have spent time with family and loved ones during the holidays. It's a time of joy, reflection, and often, conversations about family health histories. Have you ever thought about what runs in your family health-wise, and whether it might already be affecting you? As I approach my "Medicare Birthday," these questions have been on my mind.
In my family, there's a history of health challenges. My dad had a bypass surgery at the age of 60, my mom takes four heart medications, and my grandpa suffered from diabetes and had a heart attack after completing a round of golf. It's easy to believe that our biology is our destiny, that our genes are the script we must follow. But did you know that your biology doesn't have to be your biography?
Inherited DNA genes may play a role, but they are just a small percentage?typically 5-15%?of what really determines our health outcomes. Lifestyle choices, nutrition, and mindfulness can significantly impact our health and well-being. It was on February 23rd, 2018, that I met Dorothy and Dr. David, and my journey towards a healthier future began.
The introduction to Redox Signaling molecules marked a turning point for me. These tiny messengers in our cells are capable of incredible transformations. Redox was just the beginning; I delved deeper into holistic approaches to health. A course in cellular health, taught by an atomic medical physicist, opened up a world of alternatives.
While I still visit my regular doctor for blood work twice a year and see a cardiologist annually (because I believe in having a baseline understanding of my health), I've also started paying more attention to my body's signals. How do I feel one hour after eating? If it's not good, I've learned not to eat certain foods. For example, I've realized that I don't tolerate raw veggies as well as others. It was during a cleansing journey that I learned a valuable lesson:
"Every single thing you put in your mouth is either an INSULT OR A COMPLIMENT" to your body.
In addition to Redox, I now have more confidence that I won't follow my family's health journeys exactly. The ability to re-energize, rejuvenate, and accelerate mitochondrial function has left me excited about aging younger. I used to think that Medicare was for OLD people, but it turns out it's simply an insurance adjustment to a lower rate. HOORAY!
So, as we embark on this new year, let's remember that our genes don't have to define our health destiny. By making mindful choices, nourishing our bodies, and exploring holistic approaches like Redox Signaling molecules, we can take control of our health and age with grace and vitality.
Until next time, my friends? ??
